Marie-Paul Simard

Calm and serene, Marie-Paul loves adventure! She has accumulated over 7,000 nautical miles, including a transport from Istanbul (Turkey) to St. Martin in the Caribbean, which has shaped her hands-on marine skills in terms of repairs, navigation and engine maintenance. She has also sailed on other bodies of water, including Lake St. Pierre, Lake Ontario, the St. Lawrence River and our magnificent Saguenay Fjord.

Marie-Paul discovered sailing at age 12, and quickly became passionate for the sport... so much so that she became a Cansail Instructor 1 to 6 as well as a Dinghy instructor-evaluator before becoming a Basic Cruising instructor. She has a fondness for performance sailboats and regularly participates in regattas. She was a coach for the sea cadet regattas regional team for four years and is still involved in this program.

The environment is important to Marie-Paul. She is paying more and more attention to it and trying to sensitize the people around her to the impacts that our choices of transportation, maintenance, food and consumption habits have on our environment.

Her motto: On a boat, there is no situation without a solution
